If you’re anything like me, then you probably buy stupid things on Amazon just for a boost of serotonin. Hi, I’m Jose, and I’m an Amazon Shopaholic.

Let’s be real. Ever since COVID and the quarantine started, I’ve spent hours scrolling through the back pages of Amazon’s endless supply of cool but useless things like this Bob Ross waffle maker. It has taken everything in me not to buy this thing. Imagine starting your day with Bob Ross! But I digress. So what have I bought from Amazon that I like or found useful? Well, thanks for asking.

Kitchen Gadgets

You ever want to make your favorite dish from a restaurant, but it has some wild ingredients that you will never find in your Fred Meyer? Cause same. Amazon probably has it. I just made some homemade chili oil with Korean peppercorn and chilis I bought from there.

Living Room

I miss going to bars. I miss people watching. I miss hanging out with friends. I miss being able to get a drink that needs to be specially made. I like beer and wine like anybody else, but there’s only so much I can take. That’s why I invested in a bar cart. You can probably find cheaper ones elsewhere, but I got this one for about $65. Nothing crazy, but it adds something to my rather boring living room.

Plus, I’ve always wanted to have those moments from Gilmore Girls when Lorelai and Rory visit the grandparents, and Emily just pours them drinks from their super fancy bar cart. Did I just out myself as a Gilmore Girls fan? Yes, yes, I did. #TeamJess

Gaming Setup

Is it really a gaming setup if you don’t have an LED strip somewhere? It probably makes me basic, but man, do I love mine. I got these lights. There are some pretty expensive ones that you can buy but what’s the point? They all look the same. Sure some can connect to your phone, but the remote to mine is literally on my desk, where I spend most of my day. Save yourself the money. Also, make sure to measure where you are putting them, so you buy the right length.

Miscellaneous

One of the greatest Christmas gifts I have ever received was this little wooden owl that holds my glasses. I don’t think my mom realized how awesome a gift it was, but as someone who didn’t need glasses until he was 19, this little owl was a godsend. I never knew what to do with my glasses before bed. I could leave them on the nightstand, but I would always almost break them in the morning when I reached for my phone. There are a bunch of different holders you can find, but the owl is the best.

I like watches. I’m not super into them where I know everything about the ones that cost $20,000, but I think a nice watch can be a nice touch on a put-together outfit. And as a guy, I will take anything that lets me add to an outfit since guys’ clothing is so boring. I probably own nine watches too many, so investing in a watch organizer has been clutch. Plus, I told myself that I can’t own more watches than my box can fit. So if I want a new one I have to get rid of one. Self-accountability at its best, am I right?

We are the generation that grew up entertaining ourselves with weird, made-up games on the computer. We had flash games, club penguin, and the Wiki game, but now, as an adult who has a job, I have turned Amazon into a game. What cool, maybe useful, thing can I find on Amazon, and is it worth it? Is this the most financially responsible thing to do? Probably not, but who’s going to tell me to stop? My mom? Or maybe this is just me trying to lie to myself by thinking that all the adult boring stuff I buy for myself is a fun game in the same way our moms turned cleaning up our toys into a game. Either way, I hope you enjoyed the list.
