Last week, I wrote about all the things you should clean daily and weekly. Today I’m coming at you with the things that should be cleaned monthly, seasonally and annually.

Monthly Cleaning Tasks

If you want a super clean house, there’s stuff you gotta clean on a monthly basis. Pick a Saturday any Saturday (or whatever other day suits your fancy) and get to scrubbing once a month.

  • Dust baseboards
  • Clean oven
  • Clean throw rugs and bath mats
  • Dust blinds and window screens
  • Wipe windowsills and doors
  • Vacuum and wipe air vents
  • Clean refrigerator & freezer
  • Clean inside the dishwasher
  • Launder duvet covers
  • Wash shower curtain liner
  • Scrub shower grout
  • Dust ceiling fans
  • Wash and sanitize litter boxes
  • Wash pet bedding
  • Wash kitchen trash can
  • Wipe down leather furniture (see more here)

Seasonal Cleaning Tasks

Do these once every 3 to 4 months. If you live somewhere you get all 4 seasons (sorry, Florida people) you could set to cleaning the below when the seasons change.

  • Clean out your junk drawer
  • Wash duvet insert or comforter
  • Clean/dust lampshades
  • Vacuum under couches and other big furniture
  • Wash curtains and clean throw pillows
  • Clean outdoor furniture
  • Clean light fixtures
  • Deep clean pantry
  • Vacuum bathroom exhaust fans
  • Clean behind appliances
  • Clean BBQ grills
  • Rotate mattresses
  • Clean shower heads (Here’s how and why)

Bi-Annual Cleaning Tasks

A short list of things to clean twice a year. Though there’s nothing stopping you from doing it more frequently. It’s your place, you do what you want!

  • Deep clean closets
  • Launder furniture slipcovers (if you have them)
  • Dust books and deep-clean bookcases
  • Deep condition leather furniture

Yearly Cleaning Tasks

The list of annual tasks is short and simple. If you’re renting, make sure your landlord is taking care of the fireplace.

  • Clean upholstered furniture (microfiber rag & warm water will do the trick)
  • Clean fireplace (Spring)
  • Have the chimney inspected (Fall)
